The Government has today published a white paper committing to comprehensive reforms making it easier to convert leasehold flats to commonhold, making common easier to set up and they are committing to the abolition of leasehold as a way to own new flats at some point in the future.
The Governemnt bleives that commonhold will give flat owenrs more control over their buildigns and it intends to give flat owners much more contirl ovr the managment fo their buiding.
As yet this is a commitment and they will have to work hard to make this a reality. In particular they will need to convince solicitors and other legal experts that this is a workable alternative to leasehold.
