The Government is committed to moving Leasehold Reform forward and to implement all of the recommendations in the Law Commission report including the abolition of marriage value for leases below 80 years and the provisions relating to high rising and onerous ground rents.
However they are promising further consultation and the legal challenges to the abolition of marriage value are moving forward.
A judicial Review on these legal challenges are expected in July 2025. Then we will know if those legal challenges can move forward. If they are successful it could scupper many of the Government’s plans. More updates to follow.
